Power & Fiber
This blog post is coming from inside the house: we now have power and internet. No plumbing yet. So as I’ve been working from the office this week, the purple porta-potty outside is still crucial.

No heating either, but a small space heater is plenty to keep the house warm, even with snow and frosty nights outside.

Gigabit fiber as well as Cat 6 Ethernet cables converge in a central cabinet. This is how it looks after hooking up the switch to the patch panel.

Wi-Fi speeds are good. Would love better upload speed, but they don’t provide that for houses that may be used as vacation rentals. (I forgot to bring an Ethernet dongle, so have not tested that speed yet.)

The canned lights in kitchen and living area seem to provide more than enough light.

Detail work inside
More detail work has been completed, like shower doors and mirrors.
The tile work by the sink and coffee area turned out really well.
Stucco and stone
The stucco is all done, and the stone work is almost finished.
Current view of the back of the house.

Here’s a picture of the stone work in progress.

Outside lights
Two cans in the soffit next to the garage door are on a sensor and turn on automatically when it gets dark. The neighborhood doesn’t have any street lights, so this provides some visibility while being dark sky compliant.

We also have small accent lights in the soffit in the front of the house. At first, these were way too bright even at the lowest setting, but I learned that the dimmers we’re using can be adjusted, and now they look a lot better.
